After years of requests, the skies just got a lot friendlier for Texans flying to the nation?s capital. The Department of Transportation granted Southwest Airlines one of eight coveted nonstop flights to and from Washington’s close-in airport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Southwest chose Bergstrom International Airport as the flight?s Texas destination. ?The flights will increase competition for airlines serving Washington, which can lead to lower fares for consumers,? said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.
