VIDEO: Roundup of Bristol's Christmas shows

With less than a month to go until Christmas, the annual selection of festive shows has been getting started across the city.

Here is our roundup of what you can watch and where.

Bristol Old Vic Peter Pan - 26 Nov-19 Jan - For ages 6 and over This year's Christmas show sees our imaginations soar skyward as JM Barrie's much-loved tale of the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up takes flight. When the leader of the Lost Boys, the fleet-footed Peter Pan, loses his shadow during a visit to London, kind-hearted Wendy helps him re-attach it and is invited back to Neverland in return - where Tinker Bell the fairy, Princess Tiger Lily and, of course, the vengeful Captain Hook await. Directed by Sally Cookson (who directed the Tobacco Factory's Christmas hit Cinderella as well as Treasure Island), Peter Pan explores the pain and possibilities of growing up, set to live music and a riot of colour, magic and merry mischief to fill the hearts of everyone this Christmas.
Hey Diddle Diddle - (Bristol Old Vic Studio) -28 Nov – 5 January - 3-6 years This December the Studio turns into a magical Christmas playground for younger audiences to enjoy. Can you untangle Incy Wincy's web of muddled rhymes and characters and help Little Bo Peep find her sheep and put Humpty Dumpty together again? Armed with instruments, games, songs and a sackful of seasonal surprises, let Jack and Jill take you on a nostalgic, magical journey to a world of wonder and feel good festive fun. Meet the owl, the pussycat, three blind mice and the grand old Duke of York. Tobacco Factory - Hansel and Gretel - 5 Dec – 13 January - For ages 6 and over In the middle of a cold, dark forest Hansel and Gretel are lost and hungry. But as they sit, shivering, they glimpse a tiny cottage through the trees… a cottage that's unlike anything you've ever seen before. Its roof is made of gingerbread, the walls are made of chocolate cake, the door is made of boiled sweets and the windows of clear sugar glaze, but what's inside? This Christmas, follow Hansel and Gretel into the frozen forest and find out. The Tobacco Factory Theatre and International award-winning theatre company New International Encounter join forces to bring you an enchanting show that will transform the Factory into a magical winter woodland. Adapting the classic fairytale Hansel and Gretel with a mix of brilliantly fun live music, clowning, humour, language and storytelling, this is a wonderful Christmas show for all the family.
