SCHOOLS in the Bristol area are being urged to enter a competition which will give them a complete prom package for up to 180 students.
The 'Win a Prom' contest has been organised by The Post in partnership with Just So Balloons which is based in Henleaze. But schools are urged to enter as soon as possible because the deadline is on Thursday.
Only school officials can enter the competition which they can do by filling out a form on the website, www.bristolwinaprom.com.
The lucky winning school will have the chance to celebrate in style at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Redcliffe Way in May or June 2013.
The package includes a buffet, disco and balloon decorations.
One school which has already entered and hoping to win is the Bridge Learning Campus in Hartcliffe. Ian Kenna, head of year, says: "Our Year 11 students usually fund raise to help fund the prom and have managed to do so every year.
"But this year due to two students in our school suffering with cancer, they have decided they are going to pay for their own tickets and fund raise all year for the CLIC Sargent charity.
"They have already raised over £1,000 for the charity by doing a 14-mile sponsored walk, a Christmas fete, Christmas bedtime stories for our primary school children and other various sponsored events. I believe this year group are very special and very unselfish and I would like to give them something back."
In January, we will publish a supplement with all the schools and people can vote for the school which they think deserves the prize the most. Voting tokens will be printed in The Post every day from Tuesday, January 22 until Tuesday, February 5.
The prom will go to the school with the most votes, weighed against the number of pupils registered so that big or small schools have an equal chance of winning.
Just So Balloons has been supplying balloon decorations for a wide range of events for more than 12 years.
Based in a shop in Henleaze, they have supplied decorations to more than 50 venues and hotels in the Bristol area.
