Easter walking tour explores chocolate history

A SPECIAL Easter walk and story tour will delve into Bristol's rich chocolate history.

The walk, led by performer, playwright and historical researcher Bea Roberts, aims to reveal stories hidden right in the heart of the city and explain how Bristol's chocolate makers changed the world, including inventing the world's first chocolate bar, chocolate confectionery and Easter eggs.

Subjects include Scott of the Antarctic, the houses of Parliament via Ghana and Peru, and Dyson to Danny Boy. Walkers will learn how a Curly Wurly started a global row and why an international opera star performed on a Bristol factory floor.

The walk, lasting around an hour and suitable for all ages, will pass through Georgian alleyways and forgotten passages and will include chocolate tasting.

It has been organised by Harvest Heritage Arts and Media in collaboration with Love Local Events and The Chocolate Festival. The walk will take place today and tomorrow, meeting at Bristol Ferry Boat Company ticket office in the Harbourside at 11am, and will last until 2pm. Tickets are £5 for adults £3 for children.
