The all-or-nothing Red Sox offense was shut down by right-hander Scott Feldman and the Texas Rangers on Monday night, as the Sox dropped their fourth straight contest, this one by a 9-1 count. As a result, the team fell back below .500 for the first time since June 16.
The Sox took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, when Jarrod Saltalamacchia blasted a Feldman changeup for a colossal homer to deep right-center. But the advantage proved short-lived as the Rangers posted four runs in the bottom of the third against Sox starter Felix Doubront.
