Judges Confirm That Bail Bond Agents Play An Important Role In The Criminal Justice System

ExpertBail?s recent survey at the American Judges Association Conference finds that Judges have more confidence in financially secured release through a bail bond agent than they do in unsecured release through a pretrial release agency.

Calabasas, CA (PRWEB) October 04, 2012

As part of its ongoing mission to promote understanding of the bail industry throughout the country, the ExpertBail team attended the American Judges Association Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana earlier this week. The team spent time talking with judges from all over the country about the bail bond industry and the role that it plays in their specific states and counties. During the two day conference, the team handed out several hundred of ExpertBail?s now famous ?I Love My Judge? buttons as well as fielded a two page survey to gain insights into judges? perceptions of the bail bond industry and its role in the criminal justice system. Much like the recent survey conducted amongst sheriffs at this years? National Sheriffs? Association Conference, the results shed a lot of light on the reality of the bail industry and dispelled many myths and stereotypes that currently exist about this relatively unknown but extremely important industry.

When asked how important the role of a bail agent is in the criminal justice system 70% of respondents said ?Very Important.? 20% responded that the bail industry was ?Somewhat Important.? Only 10% replied ?Not Very Important.?

?Our team is extremely pleased with the results of the survey,? says Eric Granof, Vice President of Corporate Communications for the AIA Family of Companies and the Chief Marketing Officer for The ExpertBail Network. ?There are several groups out there that are trying to convince stakeholders in the criminal justice system that bail agents are a distraction and an unnecessary evil. However, it is hard to argue with results like these. The strong validations that our industry continues to receive, first from sheriffs and now from judges, should be very telling indications to everyone that commercial bail has real value and purpose in the criminal justice system.?

One of the most telling insights from the survey came from a comparison question between the effectiveness of financially secured release with a commercial bail bond and that of an unsecured release through a pretrial release agency. 60% of judges identified that financially secured release through a commercial bail bond was the most effective form of release while 6% said that unsecured release was the most effective.

?When you measure the effectiveness of the bail industry against all other forms of release, bail always comes out on top. The challenge is that many people still fall into the trap and believe in the stereotype that has been created by reality television and Hollywood filmmakers,? says Granof. ?That being said, we are finding that those who work in the system every day, judges, sheriffs, victim advocates, they do understand and respect the vital and effective role of bail agents ?and ultimately, we think that is what matters most.?
